Information You Choose to Send
Search entries
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Cape Girardeau County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's terms and privacy practices govern its receipt and handling of a query.
Messages and contact requests
If you email or submit a contact message, the information in that communication is kept as needed to read, route, and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process. Do not send sensitive custody, medical, financial, or identity documents through a general contact message.
Information Collected During a Visit
Routine technical information may be recorded when a browser requests a page. It helps operate the site, measure traffic, and identify faults. This information can include:
- the visitor's internet protocol address;
- browser name, type, and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring page or site, when supplied; and
- request dates and timestamps.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support analytics or advertising. Most browsers allow cookies to be limited, blocked, or removed. Some functions may work differently when cookies are disabled. Browser controls apply to the device and browser where the setting is made.
Reasons the Information Is Used
Collected information supports ordinary site operations. It is used only for practical purposes connected to running and improving the service, including:
- keeping pages available, stable, and responsive;
- sending a search request to the selected partner tool;
- learning which Cape Girardeau County record pages visitors find useful;
- finding errors, abuse, and technical problems; and
- displaying advertising that may reflect general interests.
Outside Websites and Advertising
Links lead to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office, Cape Girardeau Police Department, Missouri Department of Corrections, court systems, federal locators, release-record sources, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's privacy policy controls. This site does not set or enforce another organization's data rules.
Advertising companies may use their own cookies or comparable technologies to measure activity and tailor ads across websites. That processing occurs on the partner's systems. Visitors should review the partner's notices and opt-out controls for details about interest-based advertising.
Parties That May Receive Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may reach a service that needs it to perform a defined function, or an authority entitled to receive it. Those recipients can include:
- search partners that process submitted queries;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver or assess ads; and
- law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Security Has Practical Limits
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under this site's control. No internet connection, server, email system, or storage method is entirely secure. Absolute protection and breach-free operation cannot be promised. Visitors should limit the personal data they send and use the official agency's designated secure channel when records or identity documents are required.
Use Is Limited to Adults
This site is intended for people age 18 and older. It does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. A parent or guardian who believes a person under 18 submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.
Your Information Choices
Subject to applicable law and verification of the request, a person may ask about personal data held directly by this site. Available requests may include:
- receiving a copy of personal information held;
- correcting information that is inaccurate;
- requesting deletion of eligible information; and
- opting out of processing where an applicable right permits it.
These choices do not control records kept by the sheriff, police, MODOC, courts, search partners, or other independent organizations. Requests about those records must go to the relevant custodian.
