Commercial mugshot sites are unnecessary where direct county and state paths exist. Their images can be stale, mislabeled, or detached from later court action. No commercial publisher or data broker is linked.

- Ask for the booking photograph tied to that exact booking episode, not every image associated with the name.
- Request the booking number, booking date and time, release date and time, and coded disposition with the photo.
- Ask for open electronic copies, an advance fee estimate, and segregable open portions if another part is closed.
- If material is withheld, request the specific legal basis for each redaction or denial.
RSMo § 610.023 requires the custodian to act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. Production may reasonably take longer, but the response should explain why and give the earliest availability. Section 610.026 controls permitted fees and allows estimates and prepayment.

Missouri Photos Are Different Records
A MODOC offender photo and a Cape Girardeau County booking photo are not interchangeable. The county image belongs to a local arrest and jail episode. A state correctional photograph relates to a Missouri Department of Corrections record after state intake. A person transferred from the county jail to MODOC has changed custodians and has not necessarily returned to the community.
The public MODOC offender search covers active offenders, including probationers and parolees, and expressly excludes finally discharged offenders. The Missouri State Highway Patrol registry may show an identification photo only when the person has a current statutory registration duty. It is not a general inmate-photo database and does not establish the time or reason for a Cape Girardeau County release.

The sheriff's official press-release archive and social accounts are the most direct local editorial channels for selected events. Cape Girardeau Mugshot Removal Rules
RSMo § 610.140 allows expungement of eligible arrest, plea, trial, and conviction records after statutory waiting rules, satisfied obligations, offense exclusions, notice, and court findings. Current law generally uses a three-year criterion after completion of an authorized felony disposition and one year for a misdemeanor, municipal violation, or infraction. Arrest-only petitions have a separate timing rule. Those points are conditions in a court process, not an automatic promise that any image qualifies.
An expunged case is closed to general public access, but expungement is not the same as physical destruction of every copy. RSMo § 610.105 can also close specified records after certain final outcomes, subject to exceptions. If an official result or photo vanishes, possible causes include the short display window, a correction, changed indexing, sealing, closure, or expungement. Ask the custodian rather than guessing.
Missouri's RSMo § 407.1150 bars a criminal-record publisher or disseminator from soliciting or accepting payment from the pictured person to remove, correct, or modify booking-photo material. A knowing and willful violation is a Class A misdemeanor, and the law authorizes civil remedies. This is an anti-pay-to-remove rule. It does not create a universal right to deletion or bar lawful first-party publication.
Cape Girardeau Municipal Mugshots
The Cape Girardeau Police Department Municipal Jail is separate from the county detention center. No public municipal release roster was found.
